03/06/2011 - Singapore

Reading Room is one of only four UK companies to make the final 70 in Tourism Queensland’s Million Dollar Memo challenge. The eventual winner will receive AUD 1 million (GBP 620,000) in staff travel experiences to Queensland, Australia.

The digital consultancy’s 60-second film entry features big Queensland-inspired attractions at some iconic London landmarks. (View the entry at: http://www.milliondollarmemo.com/en/entries/reading-room-united-kingdom-422).

According to Tourism Queensland’s Jane Nicholson the UK entries “stood out for their originality and creativity in approaching the task”. A large number of high-quality entries were received, with 19 countries represented on the shortlist.

“This brings us a step closer to the big prize. It’s a fantastic recognition of our team’s creativity and hard work,” said CEO Margaret Manning. “If we win, we’ll send our people to Australia to share their digital expertise with people and organisations across Queensland.”

Reading Room recently announced further expansion into the Asia Pacific region with a new regional hub in Singapore. At the same time its 10-year-old Australian business – with offices in Brisbane, Canberra and Sydney – shows impressive growth.

“We’re a potent mix of local knowledge and global reach, and we’ll use this to our advantage when spreading the word about Queensland’s unique attractions,” Manning said.
